The construction of YGS high voltage fuse link is shown on the figure -1. The isolating body of the fuse links are made of high qualitative brown porcelain which is glaced inside as well as outside. Porcelain tubes should be at least conforming with the C120 – C130 IEC 672 standards. The nickel or silver plated caps of electrolyte copper wich gives good resistance against corrosion are rolled by mechanically pressing into the groove of the porcelain tube and additionally sealed by a durable elastic which is resistant to ageing and high temperatures. This sealing method ensures tightness against ingress of humidity. Inside the porcelain tube there is a centrically installed an star-shaped ceramic support on which fuse elements (pure silver) are twisted around this ceramic support. These melting elements are attached on both caps by means of a special copper strip. Many melting elements are connected in a paralel way so that their thickness is as little as possible and this is one the conditions for the correct functioning of the melting element in case of overload of the current. Insıde of the tube is filled with a very pure quartz sand of predetermined grain size which enable to absorb the energy produced by arcing and in this way assures a high breaking capacity.
The fuse link is equipped with a striker system , which is an important element in the construction. The striker pin is activated immediately when the fuse element melts and functions as an optical indicator or with it’s force it actuates some switching device. Dimensions and characteristics of the force diagram are shown on the figure-2. Back-up fuse links are intented for protection in a limited current region from the minimum breaking current (Imin) to the rated breaking capacity (I1). These fuse links have been a standart product of YGS for many years and constant quality of the product is guaranteed by a quality management system installed at YGS which assures qualitative product and a reliable protection.
